Passionate. Spiritual. Leader.
Born and raised in the Central Valley, Michael brings a wealth of experience in nonprofit management and as an ally in deconstructing systems of oppression. A graduate of California State University, Fresno, he immediately went to work with programs designed to ensure economic equity through workforce development and advocacy. Building on his passion for equitable approaches to systemic oppression, he invested his time advocating for policies around homelessness that ensured the dignity and worth of those affected by the emerging homeless crisis. Michael later returned to school, where he obtained his MBA and began a teaching career in urban schools working with underserved student populations in Nashville, TN. During his time in the classroom, Michael developed a social justice program that provided students with a platform to voice their concerns and implemented a community garden aimed at improving student health while reducing food insecurity in the Nashville area. After five years in the southern part of the U.S., Michael returned to his home state of California to serve those in his community. He is currently working on his MDiv at Starr King School for the Ministry and believes that his understanding of faith-rooted organizing and sustainability will nourish the movement and those who are working within it.
